Job Title: Anesthesia Technician

Job Summary:

An Anesthesia Technician provides support to anesthesia providers by preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting in the administration of anesthesia, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment for patients undergoing surgical or medical procedures. They play a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning of anesthesia machines and equipment, assisting anesthesia providers, and contributing to patient safety and care during anesthesia administration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, inspect, and maintain anesthesia equipment, including machines, monitors, and supplies, ensuring proper functionality and readiness for use.
  • Assist anesthesia providers in the preparation and administration of anesthesia, ensuring that all required equipment and supplies are readily available.
  • Monitor anesthesia-related equipment and patient vital signs during procedures, promptly reporting any abnormalities or issues.
  • Ensure the proper storage, cleaning, and sterilization of anesthesia-related instruments and supplies.
  • Assist with the placement of intravenous (IV) lines, airway management, and other tasks as directed by anesthesia providers.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow, effective communication, and optimal patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of anesthesia equipment, medications, and patient care during procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of medications, such as anesthesia agents, as prescribed by the anesthesia provider.
  • Educate and train staff on the use of anesthesia equipment, protocols, and infection control procedures.
  • Stay current on advancements in anesthesia technology and best practices through continuing education and training.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree or certificate program in Anesthesia Technology or a related field.
  • Certification:
    • Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in anesthesia support or related clinical roles
