Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Pharmacy Tech)**
Job Summary:
A Pharmacy Technician supports licensed pharmacists in the preparation, distribution, and administration of medications. They perform a variety of tasks related to the management of medication supplies, assist with patient care, and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations. Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of pharmacy operations and ensuring patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately and efficiently prepare, dispense, and distribute medications, including counting, labeling, and packaging medications.
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation of compounded medications, sterile products, and IV solutions.
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Retrieve and organize medication supplies and inventory, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and documentation.
- Assist in the procurement, stocking, and ordering of medications and supplies.
- Prepare and process insurance claims, verifying patient information and billing details.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards, including safety and sanitation procedures.
- Answer patient questions and provide medication information under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment, adhering to infection control practices.
- Participate in inventory management and restocking of pharmacy supplies.
- Assist pharmacists with data entry, prescription filling, and processing.
- Provide support to healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, regarding medication information.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling patient information and pharmacy operations.
- Assist with administrative duties, including scheduling, filing, and managing pharmacy records.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a pharmacy technician program or certification preferred.
- Licensure:
- State-specific pharmacy technician certification or registration may be required.
