Job Title: Vascular Sonographer
Job Summary:
A Vascular Sonographer performs specialized diagnostic imaging of the vascular system to assess blood flow and detect conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, peripheral artery disease, aneurysms, and other circulatory disorders. They work closely with physicians to provide detailed vascular assessments, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform non-invasive diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures, including Doppler studies, carotid duplex, and venous mapping.
- Conduct and interpret vascular imaging studies, including assessment of blood flow, vessel structure, and circulation.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to evaluate patient conditions, recommend appropriate treatments, and monitor vascular health.
- Prepare patients for vascular ultrasound exams, explaining procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and obtaining accurate medical histories.
- Operate and maintain vascular ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Collect and analyze vascular data, documenting findings, and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control practices related to vascular imaging procedures.
- Educate patients and families on vascular conditions, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education to stay updated on advancements in vascular ultrasound technology.
- Assist in the development of care plans based on vascular imaging results.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Vascular Technology, or a related field.
- Certification:
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in vascular ultrasound imaging
