Job Description:

Ready to support students in the 25/26 school year? Millbrook Support Services seeks qualified Registered Nurses (RN) or License Vocational Nurses (LVN) to care for students with complex medical needs at Houston Independent School District. Supplemental nursing services and healthcare services are provided for students as identified in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plan. We’re seeking Nurses for an exciting new role in Houston TX!

Direct Nursing Services shall be provided on a regular and on-going basis for students as an integral part of the education program. Nurses shall work closely with classroom staff to assure continuity and consistency of IEP goals and objectives, Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP), 504 Plan, and Physician prescribed treatments.

To be considered for this position, a candidate must have the following:
State license to practice as RN
Have or willing to obtain a BLS
Previous experience working in a public school
Ability to meet pre-employment credentialing clearances (Background Check & Drug Screen).

Responsibilities:
Nurses may be required to provide healthcare services for single student care and/or multiple student care in any applicable HISD school setting, such as a classroom, bus, playground, field trips, etc. These assignments may include bus travel to and from school. Home Healthcare Services may be required.
Nurse must document on HISD forms all services in accordance with practice standards.
Nurses will be required to document into the HISD Medicaid billing system, eSHARS, all services provided to Medicaid eligible students. All forms will be retained as part of HISD records.
Nurses will also be required to participate in the Random Moment Time Study (RMTS).
HISD Director, Nurse Coordinator, or designee will perform periodic site visits. HISD Performance Checklist will be used to assess the performance and delivery of services being rendered.
Nurse consultation services shall include assistance to teacher in making appropriate classroom modifications, adaptations, and incorporating appropriate strategies and activities into the student’s instructional program.
Contracted healthcare provider shall be required to report the health status of students on an on-going basis to determine significant changes requiring appropriate healthcare interventions.
Contracted healthcare provider shall work collaboratively with campus teams, including the ARD/IEP and 504 Plan Committees to make recommendations for school-based interventions resulting from implementation of the IEP, IHP, and 504 Plan.
Contracted healthcare provider shall provide instructional support services including IEP participation, classroom observations, and conferences with parents, teachers, and other healthcare providers.
