Job Summary:
n
A Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The RN collaborates with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, manage GI conditions, and support patients through procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, and other GI treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

- n
- Assess, plan, and deliver patient care for gastrointestinal conditions, including acute and chronic GI disorders.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies, and other GI treatments.
- Administer medications, including sedation, analgesics, and other GI-related medications, as prescribed.
- Monitor patients during and after procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Educate patients and families on GI conditions, procedures, treatment options, and post-care instructions.
- Collaborate with gastroenterologists and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for GI patients.
- Assist in the coordination of care, including scheduling, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families regarding GI health concerns and treatment expectations.
- Maintain and document accurate, thorough patient records, including assessments, procedures, and outcomes.
- Monitor patients for complications such as bleeding, infection, or sedation-related issues, and respond appropriately.
- Promote infection control and maintain a sterile environment during GI procedures.
- Educate and advocate for patients in accessing appropriate GI treatments, medications, and resources.

Qualifications:

- n
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Licensure:n
- n
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

- Certification:n
- n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Gastroenterology Certified Registered Nurse (CGRN) preferred.

- Experience: Previous experience in gastroenterology, endoscopy, or related clinical areas
