Job Title: Neurodiagnostic Technologist
Job Summary:
A Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs specialized tests to assess and monitor the function of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. They work closely with neurologists and other healthcare professionals to diagnose and manage neurological disorders such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain injuries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and interpret neurodiagnostic tests, including EEG (electroencephalogram), EMG (electromyography), nerve conduction studies, and evoked potentials.
- Set up and calibrate neurodiagnostic equipment, ensuring accurate data collection and proper functioning.
- Record and analyze electrical activity of the brain and nervous system, interpreting results to assist in the diagnosis of neurological disorders.
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide information critical to patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Prepare patients for neurodiagnostic tests, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor patient responses and adjust tests as necessary to ensure accurate results.
- Maintain patient records, documenting test results, interpretations, and care provided.
- Perform quality control and maintenance of neurodiagnostic equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Participate in clinical research, education, and professional development to stay current with advances in neurodiagnostic technology.
- Assist in the development and implementation of care plans based on test results.
- Provide guidance and education to patients and families regarding the purpose and implications of neurodiagnostic testing.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, or a related field.
- Certification:
- Certified Electroencephalographic Technologist (CET) or Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (RENT) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in neurodiagnostic testing
