Job Title: Float Registered Nurse (RN)**

Job Summary:

A Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing care in multiple departments or units within a healthcare facility, based on patient care needs and staffing requirements. The Float RN ensures flexibility, adaptability, and high-quality patient care across various units, including medical-surgical, critical care, outpatient, or specialty units as assigned.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care in multiple units, such as medical-surgical, pediatrics, intensive care, emergency, or outpatient settings, based on staffing needs.
  • Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for patients with varying medical conditions across different departments.
  • Deliver patient-centered care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and managing patient conditions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care across units and departments.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-care instructions.
  • Document patient assessments, care plans, and interventions according to established protocols.
  • Respond to changes in patient conditions, adapt care plans as needed, and escalate issues to appropriate clinical staff.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families in diverse healthcare settings.
  • Participate in orientation, training, and continuing education to enhance clinical skills across various departments.
  • Assist with the transition of patients between units, ensuring continuity and high-quality care.
  • Work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Certification:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    • Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be required for certain units.
  • Experience: Previous nursing experience in multiple clinical settings
