Job Title: Endoscopy Technologist
Job Summary:
An Endoscopy Technologist assists physicians and healthcare teams in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using endoscopic equipment. They provide essential support during gastrointestinal (GI) and other endoscopic procedures, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and the proper functioning of endoscopy equipment. Endoscopy Technologists contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the digestive tract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up endoscopic equipment, including video systems, cameras, and related instruments, ensuring proper functionality and sterility.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies, and other related procedures.
- Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Assist with the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of endoscopic equipment and instrumentation to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and provide support to ensure patient safety during endoscopic procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of endoscopic procedures, including patient data, outcomes, and equipment usage.
- Educate patients on preparation requirements, potential risks, and what to expect during endoscopy procedures.
- Stay current on advancements in endoscopic technology, equipment, and best practices.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Certificate or Associate’s degree in Endoscopy Technology, Nursing, or a related healthcare field.
- Certification:
- Certified Endoscopy Technologist (CET) preferred through organizations such as the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: Previous experience in endoscopy, GI procedures, or related clinical setting
